Beginners Photography Course
The ideal way for beginners to learn digital photography
Now is the chance to really develop your digital photography. Using my many years experience of photography, I have created a class-leading photography course that not only teaches you the basics, but gives you the chance to progress your skills in specific areas that you may want to specialise in.
You will have access to your own personal tutor, who will be on hand to answer all your photography questions along the way, as well as critique your work and help you progress into a confident and skilled photographer as the course progresses.
This course is unlike any other online photography course. The course aims to be an alternative to the popular location-based photography workshop, where you are required to learn as much as you can in just a few days.
Unlike other home study courses, this one is geared towards travel and landscape photography only, not surprisingly, the most popular subject for photography.
I have specialised in this field for over 20 years and have gained a wealth of experience through traveling the length and breadth of Britain, as well as Europe, teaching myself the necessary skills and techniques required to have my work published by clients all over the world. From photography magazines to calendar publishers through to worldwide picture libraries, my work is widely published.
As well as taking pictures, I also write extensively about the subject. My work is regularly published in many of the UK’s leading photography magazines, and I also write travel features for many leading travel magazines.
The first five course modules will consist of lessons to teach you the basics of digital photography. These will cover the key skills every budding photographer needs to learn in order to have confidence with their camera and the necessary skills to take on any project.
- Exposure
- Composition
- Depth of field
- Light
- Filters

Five videos covering the techniques of the Basic Modules
Oncethese five basic modules have been completed, you can then tailor the rest of the course with five further modules that suit the area of photography that most interests you.
Why do a lesson on portraiture if you hate taking portraits?
Therefore, I have put together a course that is unique to other courses on the market, featuring lessons that I have expertise in and have a genuine enthusiasm for and therefore can pass on my knowledge to you the photographer.
So, for the second half of the course, you can pick and choose five further modules that suit you, and your interest in photography.
- Advanced Landscapes
- Architecture
- Night
- Panoramics
- Black and White
- Long Exposures
...plus many more
All ten modules are linked to travel and landscape photography.
But, if panoramics and black and white don’t interest you. That’s ok.
You can pick the most relevant five to suit you and complete the course learning about these. This makes the course tailored to your photography. No other photography course offers this kind of flexibility and so you only pay for subjects that interest you.
We cater for all camera types. So it doesn’t matter whether you shoot with a Canon or Nikon DSLR, or if you shoot mirrorless with a Fuji, Olympus or Sony.
Remember. It’s the image that’s important, not the camera!
Get photo fit in the year ahead
I am presenting this as an online photography course and therefore all correspondence and tuition will be via email. Each of the ten modules will come in the form of a PDF file, presented very much like the kind of feature you would see in a photography magazine. This makes it easy for you to read on your computer, print off or view on your smartphone or tablet even. They explain in depth each technique and illustrated with my own images, which echo the text, giving visual examples of the key points. At the end of the article, will be details of an assignment based on the lesson for you to complete.
This will consist of a brief of what you understood from the lesson and then a task for you to complete based on this, which involves shooting your own examples and sending them to me for critique. I will provide positive feedback on your images and where you might be able to improve your skills. Your photographs should be low-res digital files, sent along with a Word or text document.
In addition to this, I will be on hand to answer all your questions and you may submit further work or images for critique throughout the course. To keep you focused on the course, you have 12 months to complete it, which should allow plenty of time to work through the lessons at your own pace. If you need longer however, then there is the option to extend if necessary (for an additional fee).
