Now there is another way to learn photography. The aim of this book is to provide a self-taught way of learning photography and is based on the online course available from www.onlinephotographycourse.co.uk. Unlike other photography books however, this eBook is written with the aim of you, the photographer committing to a set of assignments at the end of each ‘lesson’, to encourage you to try out all the key techniques described in the lessons.
The book is divided into two main sections. The first part of the book covers the main techniques that every photographer needs to learn, no matter what area of photography they decide to pursue. These core techniques will be the basis of your photography and be part of your everyday shooting.
The five beginning modules cover:
- Exposure
- Composition
- Depth of field
- Light
- Filters
The second part of the course, is the project-based themes, that bring in different aspects of landscape photography and the subjects you may encounter and allows you to tackle each one in turn. On the online course, you only choose five of these ten subjects modules to complete the course, but for this eBook, you get all ten to read about and experiment with. You of course don’t have to do these in any set order or even all of them at once, if you so please. But it will give you the opportunity to come back to them at a later date, if you want to set yourself a new challenge.

The assignments at the end of each lesson, are set out to encourage you to try the techniques described. You’ll do your own review of the results and the assignments are there to persuade you to practice, using your camera as often as possible and self teaching is the often easiest and most encouraging way to learn photography. Practice makes perfect and in many cases, you learn from your mistakes. There’s no better way to learn a tricky technique than take lots of picture and analyse the results yourself.
